I began playing the guitar at the age of 9 and in my teens I taught myself piano. I like to think that I’m still learning both instruments – you never really stop. I started playing music with friends while still at school and soon became aware of the thrill and beauty of a musical performance shared with other musicians and singers, which is a wonderful thing. Playing with my friends in The Swinging Retros has given me the opportunity to revisit some of the great music I grew up with in the 60s, with the added bonus of seeing it in a different light from a musician’s perspective.
